How did you get involved with HCB?

I dipped my toe into a Friday Night Bears when my Bearents brought me along some time around 2005/2006. I then moved to the UK for a couple of years and when I got back, I threw myself all the way in to the Harbour City Bears by becoming a member and regularly going to a lot of events. Eventually I was enticed to join the committee by my flatmate Daniel Marshall, and here I am now President. Whew!

What do you do as a committee member?

I drink a lot of beer. LOL. But seriously, as President I do a lot more than just socialise. I also arrange events, (when we aren't in a pandemic), coordinate logistics, maintain relationships with our venues, and a whole bunch of little stuff here and there wherever I am needed

What’s the best thing about being on the committee? The worst?

The best thing is seeing everyone's happy faces when you're at our events having a great time! The worst is having to miss some events during Bear Essentials because you're busy running other events.

What would you say to someone who is thinking of getting involved with HCB?

DO IT! I have never regretted a second, and it has changed me for the better. I used to be terrified of public speaking and being on camera, and if you've ever seen me do the draws on Fridays or Sundays you'll know that is completely not the case anymore.

What do you do in between your HCB commitments?

There is the job I get paid to do, as well as enjoying live music, movies, video games. I also love to bake cakes and make ice cream, sometimes at the same time.
