Furry Fridays is Moving!

I'm sure you've probably heard the good news by now: our Furry Friday event is moving out of the Oxford and into the Kings Cross Hotel!

Our last Friday at the Oxford will be Friday 21 November, and our first at the Kings Cross Hotel is Friday 28 November.

The change has come a little earlier than planned, as The Oxford unexpectedly asked us to finish up ahead of schedule after originally agreeing to host us until the end of the year. Fortunately, the Kings Cross Hotel team has gone above and beyond to welcome us sooner, so we can keep the fun going without much interruption.

As they weren’t expecting us until the new year, we’ll be in a temporary space for the first few weeks while they complete renovations and some setup for us. From January, we’ll be moving into the rooftop bar, with your favourite DJs, great bar specials, and plenty of room to dance and catch up.

There won't be a member draw in the intermediate period, but the draw will resume at the Kings Cross Hotel from the new year, with the first being on 2 January 2026.

Where is the Kings Cross Hotel?

The hotel is at 244-248 William Street, Kings Cross. It's directly opposite the Coca-Cola sign.

How to get there

The Kings Cross Hotel is super close to Kings Cross Station- less than a minute's walk. If you're coming in on the train, you can just jump on the T4 line and you'll be there in no time.

If you're coming from Oxford Street, the 311 bus goes basically door-to-door from Taylor Square to Kings Cross to make it easy to get back and forth. Alternatively, you can walk the journey in under 10 minutes.

Why are we moving?

You may have noticed attendance dropping at Furry Fridays in recent months. Many members shared that they felt less welcome at The Oxford, and we saw our community start to spread out across other venues.

Earlier this year, The Oxford also informed us that they did not wish to host us for Mardi Gras night, preferring to cater to the general public instead. That made it clear we needed to find a new home that truly valued our community.

After speaking with several venues, the Kings Cross Hotel stood out as the most welcoming and enthusiastic partner. Some smaller independent venues on Oxford Street were simply too limited in space, while larger venues weren’t as open to community events like ours.

While it’s sad to see Oxford Street’s nightlife changing, we’re excited to move somewhere that’s thrilled to have us and committed to making Furry Fridays better than ever.
